Pioneer Valley Montessori School has many traditions, both at holidays and at other times of the year. We have Mom's and Dad's Nights in the early part of the school year so that children can show their parents their classrooms and some of their favorite work activities. In the spring, we have Grandparents' Day, where children invite their grandparents to visit during the school day. We have a picnic at the beginning of the school year and at the end of the year so that families can strengthen their connections informally. There is an annual Halloween Party, a Science Fair, Earth Day celebration, as well as a family event sponsored by the PTO. The PTO also coordinates a Staff Appreciation Luncheon each year for all the teachers and other staff.
Productions Each spring, the music teacher coordinates a musical production for the enjoyment of families and friends. The theme-based production is comprised of songs and dance that the children have been practicing during their weekly music classes.
Community Service PVMS students and their families are involved in a number of community service projects Some examples of their involvement are: the preparation and serving of a meal for the local shelter by the elementary students, collections for fire, earthquake and tornado relief, shopping with their parents for "wish list" items for children at a local adoption agency, the "HUGS" (hats, underwear, gloves, scarves) tree, and the collection of canned goods for a shelter service.
