Pioneer Valley is a non-profit organization, governed by a Board of Trustees, in accordance with the by-laws.
The Board of Trustees meets monthly.
Members of the school community are welcome to be on Board committees. Please let Margaret or a board member know of your interest.
|Erik Skar, President|
Erik is a financial services professional at Mass Mutual Financial Group. Erik is a member of the Chicopee Chamber of Commerce and the Wilbraham Rotary Club. He serves as a Big Brother and volunteers for Best Buddies of Western Mass. Erik's sister is a Montessori teacher and his two daughters attend PVMS.

Angie is a native of Holyoke, MA and has resided in Springfield since 1999. She resides with her husband, daughter and two dogs. Angie’s daughter attends PVMS and has excelled in such a warm educational environment.
Angie holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Western New College and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Southern New Hampshire University.
Angie is a Project Management, Director at MassMutual Financial Group. She has over 15 years of customer service experience.
She is actively engaged in Diversity and Inclusive within her company and has served on the leadership team for the Hispanic Employee Resource Group ALMMA (Association of Latinos at MassMutual and Allies).
Abby Dejnak is currently a compliance consultant focusing on privacy and information security at a local financial services company. Prior to her current role, she worked for a greater Hartford intellectual property firm and was a corporate law paralegal. She and her husband Peter have two boys who have been enrolled at Pioneer Valley Montessori School since 2013. She has been an active participant in board meetings since 2013 and became a member of the board in 2014. Abby is a 2002 graduate of UMass Amherst with degrees in philosophy and classical civilizations. Additionally, in 2006, Abby received her ABA Certified Paralegal certificate. Abby and her family have lived in Springfield since 2005. The children initially started attending traditional daycare until Abby and Peter discovered PVMS in their own back yard. PVMS has brought about numerous changes in their sons since they started attending. They have become more confident, self-sufficient, and resilient children during their short time at PVMS. Abby and Peter can’t wait to see what the future holds for their children with PVMS.
Luke is currently a Science Teacher at Wilbraham Monson Academy. He was formerly a project manager installing capital equipment in the Power Generation Industry. His educational background includes a Mechanical Engineering Degree from Northeastern University and an MBA from Western New England College. During Luke's 23 year career at the Solutia Plant in Indian Orchard, he represented the plant and volunteered on the Main Street Partnership board where he eventually served as President of the Board for four years.
From 2000 - 2014 Luke and his wife Lori had their children at PVMS, which was a great experience for the whole family. Luke has been on the PVMS board since 2005.
John is the Vice President of Product Development at Rediker Software, a local software company with a global reach, which provides information technology solutions in the K-12 space. John joined the PVMS Board of Trustees in 2008.
"I have 17 years of technical, business and education-provider experience gained from collaborating with schools of all kinds, as well with many state departments of education and other vendors. I hope this experience combined with my enthusiasm for the Montessori method help shape my perspective and contribution as a member of the Board of Trustees."
John's son flourished at PVMS. He enrolled as a 3-year old in 2005 and graduated from the 6th Grade in 2014.

Serving on the PVMS Board of Trustees or on one of its various committees is a great way to offer your professional expertise,experience, and time to PVMS. The Board has an ongoing need to attract potential Trustees from within and outside the PVMS
community,who have experience or expertise in the following areas: Law, Finance, Education, Development/Fundraising, Contracting/Architecture,
Administration/Organization, and Community Connection.
