Brave Irene

What does it mean to be brave? Angie Thomas said "Brave doesn't mean you're not scared. It means you go on even though you're scared." Irene volunteers to do something for her mother that ends up being scary and difficult. She wants to quit more than once, but she persists and refuses to give up. It is important to be able to go on, even though you may be scared, just like Irene.
